Fire pit crystals make especially for use on a gas hob as an alternative to lava firepit rocks. Tempered glass in a multitude of colors manufactured to more than 648 degrees C resists the fusion and the discoloration associated with gas fires. Crystals are dropped and polish so there are no sharp edges to cut hands when manipulating glass. Poor quality versions of the fire crystal contain laminates and plastics that can create poisonous fumes. Gas fires propane fading slightly crystals over time leaving behind a residue. Black glass is recommend for propane gas wells.
Deep fire holes need a cheap fill to form a basis for the more expensive decorative options. Filler material made of volcanic firepit rocks, silica sand or volcanic ash also retains heat, making your decorative rock more efficient. Lava rock is dark in color and best use under dark upper materials, such as black glass.
